About our working here now on ;)

Hi there everybody :)

Now it´s 4th of october and we´ve been working for 4 full days at the nursing home. Last week we started there and this week been working for two days and now having a day off (thursday+friday having work again). First days were quite confusing, but now we´ve been used as a workers there for last days.
The basic care here is quite similar that we do in Finland of course, but some conventions are different for sure. Tools that we use here are the same, for crane to remove resident for example. We´re doing 8 hour days for one half an hour break, or then you can have two 15 minute breaks. At work, the stuff includes carers, nurses, supervisors, physiotherapist, cleaning ladys, kitchen workers, very nice Peter in reception :) and executive manager. There´s many other students in the house also, few girls from Finland and other students from different countries, from Czech Republic for example.
We are working in different floors in the house usually, so our english is on practise nicely all the time ;)
...we´ve been very tired after working days, most of it because our way to work takes about 1,5 to 2 hours with the buses (we have to take two buses with change at the Valletta bus station). So our working days are about 12 hours long usually with the rides.. Leaving to work at 6 or 8 am and back at the apartment at about 6 or 8 pm. Shifts are from 10 am to 6 pm or 8 am to 4 pm. (evening/morning shifts)

Now on, we´re waiting rain and thunder to pass so that we could leave the apartment more comfortable and take a little trip at the Valletta and get to store to buy some food and so on :) Hoping that the weather will be better in the weekend when we will be having 2 days of that we could see some new places perhaps here in the island :)

We´ll be back- lots of hugs and kisses to Finland <3 Katri

Our bus stop sign at the Valleyroad (all these buses past the nursing home and are                               the ones that we can take at the Valletta to get to work and back..)
Bus lines 71 and 73 take us to Valletta from Safi. (That ride takes about 30 minutes
and sometimes buses come or then don´t ;D )
Sight at the Valletta bus station, in the evening...
Katri and Tanja, the carers ;)
